The Fairy Necklaces
This roombox is under construction at the moment. It is based on the book "The Fairy Necklaces" by Cecily Mary Barker (who also wrote the Flower Fairies books). The book is also known as "Groundsel and Necklaces" or "The Fairy's Gift". Jenny Wilkie wishes for 365 necklaces, one for every day of the year, and this wish is granted by the fairies.

I haven't quite managed to include 365 neclaces - there just isn't space. I have tried to count them and think there are 68 but I keep losing count!
I wasn't sure what to use as a roombox until my mum suggested a jewellery box. I worked out what size I would need then bought a blank wooden chest from "Boxy Lady".
The chest containing the necklaces, which is supposed to be mother-of-pearl, is made from mountboard painted in a dark colour. It is decorated with small pieces of parchment coloured paper which was painted with pearl fabric paint. Its feet are made from beads. The label on the chest says "To Jenny Wilkie, a Present from the Fairies." The silver coloured key was a small charm from a bottle of nail polish.
Claribell, Jenny's doll, is made from polymer clay and dressed in scraps of silk. She is poseable.
The moon (not shown) is made from glow in the dark polymer clay, flattened and craters made using different sized ball tools. After baking, the shiny underside became the front.
