I work as a school technician at Glenrothes High School. I have a BSc in Chemistry with Computer Science and an MSc in Human Computer Interaction, both from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. I live in my own house in Glenrothes, Fife.
I'm interested in many different crafts. I discovered Fimo in my early teens and have been using it ever since. A few years ago I took a night class in Jewellery Design. I like drawing and painting, but I haven't had a chance to do much recently. I have more dollshouses and roomboxes than I care to count. I also make my own greetings cards.
I have traced parts of my family tree back to the mid 1700s, and I am the Members Interests Compiler for Fife Family History Society.
I read voraciously and have a huge collection of books. I enjoy science fiction, children's fiction, crime, some fantasy, and anything with cats in it. I have an almost complete collection of the Chalet School series by Elinor Brent-Dyer. My favourite science fiction authors include Asimov, Julian May and Orson Scott Card. At the moment two of my favourite books are Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder and Tam Lin by Pamela Dean.
My favourite TV programmes are Quantum Leap, Profiler, First Wave, Stargate, Spooks, Blake's 7, Jupiter Moon, Cover Up, Bagpuss, Bod and The Clangers. My favourite music includes Hue & Cry, REM, Belle & Sebastian, Portishead, Leonard Cohen, Horse, Bach, Claire Hamill, Travis and Abba.
I don't have any pets due to allergies. But I love cats and I have only to open my door and one of about 20 local cats will appear!
My greatest heroes are Marie Curie and Richard Feynman.
